This Cypripedium does not like being hot or dry...if you let it get dry & strangled by tree roots it will expire. Grow in moist well drained soil in a cool shaded area with good light. Be careful with tree root competition. I carefully sink my spade into the soil around it every year to cut the tree roots taking care not to hack into the orchid. Height about 15cm. It spreads by travelling underground (kind of a similar but slower habit to Convallaria majalis but a very different plant of course) where the other Cypripediums I have make clumps that are tighter together.
