Many years ago I planted this in the garden but it spread at a rate that for me was 'weedy' so because it is a special rare plant I now have it in a pot. Over the past years I gave up with it & thought it was drought hardy.... which has been the problem. I finally decided to re-search how to actually grow it remembering that old saying 'If all else fails read the instruction'. All I was gaining was tubers but no flowers. This plant will not flower if kept dry while in growth from spring & through summer. It needs constant moisture but good drainage. In winter when dormant it needs cold weather (not frost) to help set the flowers ready for spring & also kept dry as it is not drinking water at this time.

Tubers produce a mound of soft, grey-green leaves about 25cm high, from which 50cm long stems rise, topped by large fragrant tubular, whitish-pink flowers. I now plant tubers around 2cm below soil level & mulch with some gravel. I think it might like to be a bit pot bound &, this will happen as the tubers multiply.
